“May Day” — The Communist Revolutionary Day
May 1, 2026 · By Art Harman, Senior Vice President – Policy
“May Day,” the first day of May, has been used as a day of promoting Communism and revolution since the 1880s.
In recent decades, the day has been used to rally paid and unpaid supporters, generate media coverage, recruit new members, and establish a sense of dominance. May Day was conceived to divide people by income and other means — following the same tactics that paid propagandist Karl Marx invented.
Don’t think Communist groups in America are a joke or have little support.

Democrats in government, public schools, universities, and the media push Communist propaganda and implement Communist agenda items — both subtly and openly. The election of openly Communist Zohran Mamdani shows how a slick-talking politician who hates our constitutional republic can get elected and maintain a high degree of popular support.
Given a full majority — Congress and the White House — the Communist agenda would become the official Democrat Party agenda.
The Radical Agenda Under Total Democrat Control

Pack the courts. Amend or replace the Constitution to eliminate at minimum the First and Second Amendments. Abolish fair elections by legalizing fraud and ending the Electoral College. Imprison President Trump and his supporters. Restrict rights with a Chinese-style “social credit system.” Defund police to keep people afraid to leave home. “15-minute cities,” where you must have a government permit to leave. Unlimited invasions by illegals. The list goes on.
No May Day would be complete without the requisite mass protests — often with violence. Chicago and other schools are turning out their students to march for Communism.
This is the history of May Day — and the history of the Democrat Party. Violence at such demonstrations against patriotic Americans is always possible — be careful. What’s guaranteed are Communist flags, obscene signs, hateful and envious chants, screams, and speeches inciting violence against President Trump, his administration, and his supporters.
Violence Is an Integrated Tactic of the Democrat Party
Organized violence comes from their riots and clashes with ICE and police. That generates media coverage that claims the police and ICE are the dangerous ones — not the trained, paid, violent activists.
“Arm’s-length violence” comes from the messages Democrat leaders use to trigger their crazies. “Trump is Hitler, a threat to our democracy,” they say on TV. Then an unbalanced individual feels compelled to kill someone. The fingerprints are on the gun — not on the Democrat politicians and media figures who incited the crazies. We’ve seen this deliberately ramped up against President Trump with three attempts on his life, Charlie Kirk assassinated, Rep. Steve Scalise shot, and Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh almost shot.

The only blip of data for violence by conservatives was on January 6, 2021. While it was likely secretly incited by Democrat strategists and government agents, many conservatives were arrested for vandalism and presence in the Capitol that day.
Who Funds These Demonstrations?
You won’t be surprised. Unions, Soros, foundations, the usual radical groups — and of course, the taxpayers.

May Day 2026 Organizers & Federal Funding
May Day Strong — the umbrella coalition with 500+ member organizations and 3,000+ events. No direct federal funding identified; funded through member organizations.
National Education Association (NEA) — produced the official May Day Toolkit and mobilized teachers in hundreds of cities. Funded primarily by member dues from roughly 3 million teachers. Indirectly receives federal dollars via public school funding streams. The NEA gave $1,735,000 to Midwest Academy since 2020 for protest training.
Midwest Academy — running the “Four Weeks of Power” training series culminating on May 1. NEA: $1,735,000 since 2020. Ford Foundation: $425,000 (2024–2026). Tides Foundation and NEO Philanthropy: amounts undisclosed.

Total government grants (federal, state, and city) reached $16,124,582 in 2023 alone — designated for shelters for illegals, workforce training, and legal aid. Ford Foundation added $725,000 (Jan 2025–June 2026).
Indivisible — pivoting its “No Kings” network directly into May Day. Open Society Foundations (Soros): $7,610,000 total. Open Society Action Fund: $3 million two-year grant (2023).

From “Workers of the World, Unite” to “Free Stuff for All”

The Communist slogan is traditionally “workers of the world, unite.” Today’s world is drastically different from the 19th century, where great numbers of people were desperately poor and uneducated.

Today’s poor are far richer than wealthy people of the 19th century. The poor in the U.S. are often obese — not starving to death. Healthcare and schooling are available for all. Welfare housing is usually a relatively decent apartment. Welfare is incredibly easy to get and retain for generations. The poor have smartphones, TVs, designer sneakers, and many have cars.
So the socialists and Communists now use “free stuff” as their rallying messaging, not dangerous work conditions.
“Free stuff” resonates with those who already have designer clothing and the latest iPhone — yet do not have a work ethic that allows them to honestly earn a good living.
The primary method to indoctrinate youth in Communist (“progressive”) ideology is the schools and universities. They no longer teach the value of hard work and responsibility. They don’t learn our founding documents and the history of our liberty. In fact, many are taught to hate the Constitution. It’s racist and outdated, they say.
They Use Our Freedoms to Destroy Our Freedoms

Remember during Covid and the Biden administration, when the internet and social media were heavily censored, freedom of medical care was restricted, vaccines were mandatory for many, and people were arrested for merely being outside? Sadly, a majority didn’t throw out the politicians who imprisoned them.
Mamdani didn’t get elected by promising slave labor camps, extreme poverty, and the government dictating every moment of your life — what actually happens after Communists gain total power. Instead, he got elected because he promised the free stuff: government grocery stores, cheaper rent, free buses, “tax the rich” to pay for it. The politics of envy.
Countering Communism
We must do a better job educating our youth to understand the foundations of our liberty — and to understand the dangers of Communism and similar brands of authoritarianism or tyranny. To understand that “free stuff” is a trap that enslaves. That our Constitution was created to preserve our liberties. And that they must vote for candidates dedicated to preserving that liberty.
In our 250th year of independence, let’s renew our resolve to save our republic for generations to come.
