The Budget Deal
Republicans and Democrats in the Senate reached the deal to vote on the budget extension; the ‘continuing resolution,’ that allows the government to reopen. It was passed by a 60-40 margin.
House Speaker Mike Johnson is planning to hold the House vote on Wednesday. Assuming that goes smoothly, the budget bill may be signed immediately afterwards.
The cave-in by the Democrats is a realization that after the elections last week, it would become a serious liability for their party. Thanksgiving travel would be disastrous, and the federal workers—mostly Democrats themselves, would have gone even longer with no pay.
Interestingly, radical Democrats are screaming ‘betrayal’ to their own Senators because they view anything that would reopen the government would only benefit “the evil Trump.” Yet the Democrats ARE the party of big government. They worship only government and government workers.
It is important to note that there were few items in the budget deal that weren’t already on the table before the shutdown.
Courts had already blocked firing 4,000 federal employees that Trump laid-off under the shutdown.
The bill the Democrats agreed to does not force rehiring the 150,000 federal employees who took the ‘fork in the road’ job buyouts. There were no additional restrictions added on the ‘rescission’ budget cuts. And no additional restrictions on ‘impoundment,’ which is how President Trump can prevent existing funds from being spent.
In spite of the Democrat electoral victories in Democrat states, their party has no responsible leadership, no message that resonates with regular Americans, and no solutions that would improve our lives. Just a radical spending agenda that would bankrupt America and cause runaway inflation.
It Ain’t Over Yet
What’s next? The House will vote again on the bill because it’s been changed from the original House-passed budget.
Some in the House may oppose various compromise points or offer amendments. That could delay things but isn’t likely to happen. If there are no amendments, the House may pass it with a few Democrat votes, and the President would sign it immediately.
Then the President can get focused on expanding the economy
The Next Steps
President Trump has made incredible progress on many fronts, including international trade deals and peace agreements. Now let’s take deeper actions to reduce the size and power of government while we can.
The initial DOGE cuts in agencies were the first time there’s been serious cuts in federal spending. In just weeks, radical liberal government programs got eliminated. Billions in contracts to extremist ‘non-profits’ got cancelled.
But now we need to go much further.
Now it’s time to commit to a ‘DOGE-II.’ The president needs to keep reducing government and defunding the left.
Donald Trump and his administration need to be focusing entirely on economic growth.
That’s why the new Federal Reserve chairman appointment is going to be critical. Everything that reduces costs and gives more freedom to the American people and make the economy expand needs to happen so that we can win in 2026.
Congress CAN Do it.
There are existing rules in the Senate that do allow passing legislation in the Senate with just a simple majority—without ending the filibuster. TCC is promoting the use of these rules.
TCC will advise Congress on cutting the budget and reducing the power of the federal government while we have the majorities.
We urge voters to elect greater majorities of conservatives in the House and Senate who will vote for serious budget cuts. The 2026 elections will be critical to hold and expand the Republican majority in the House and the Senate.
Our ultimate goal would be a slim government restored to its Constitutional authority, resulting in a great increase in the standard of living by all Americans and fully restoring our liberties.
