Justice Soon for Supreme Court Leak Criminal
Attorney General Pam Bondi answered Sen. Ted Cruz’s question about whether leaking the Dobbs opinion was a criminal act. At today’s hearing, Bondi said, “Senator I can’t discuss anything regarding that matter. That should answer your question.”
What’s That Mean? It’s On.
Justice officials will always refuse to comment about a pending prosecution. By specifying “that should answer your question,” Bondi was hinting that there would be a criminal investigation. They might even have a suspect.
The Dobbs decision was the ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade, returning abortion to state laws. Someone inside the court leaked the decision before it was announced, which incited ugly Democrat protests.
The leak was designed to create hostile pressure to get at least one justice to switch sides before the decision was officially announced.
The Context: Intimidation and Violence

The then-Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer issued his call for violence; often credited for inciting the attempted murder of Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Schumer targeted both Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, shouting, “I want to tell you, Gorsuch. I want to tell you, Kavanaugh. You have released the whirlwind, and you will pay the price. You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions.”
That incitement to violence helped create ugly mobs at the houses of the conservative justices, and U.S. Marshals were instructed to “avoid, unless absolutely necessary, criminal enforcement action involving the protest or protesters.”
Cruz Calls for Investigation
Cruz pointed out that “I believe the leak was part of a broader effort to intimidate. To threaten and harass justices attempting to trying to get them to change.”
He added that it’s a federal crime to picket or parade outside a judge’s home with the intent of influencing that judge’s decision. “The mobs that came outside the homes of justices were there to intimidate the court and to try to influence the justice’s decision. Leaking opinions designed to try to pressure the court politically is a gross subversion of the integrity of the court.
“So I would ask you as Attorney General to direct the FBI to use every resource possible to investigate to find the leaker and when you identify the leaker to prosecute the leaker for that criminal company.”

At last justice may be served, which will help deter future illegal leaks and assaults on Supreme Court Justices. Bondi promised that “I’m cleaning up the messes of the Biden DOJ, one of the most egregious failures of the Biden Justice Department was its refusal to protect judges and Supreme Court justices.”
