Analysis: Conservative Caucus President Jim Pfaff

New Jersey’s governor admitted this week that 6,600 non-citizens were registered to vote in her state. Donald Trump put the confirmed number at 35,152. Jim Pfaff, President of The Conservative Caucus, joined Jennifer Horn on The Morning Answer on AM 870 The Answer Los Angeles to connect that admission to the fight for voter ID — a reform backed by 80% of Americans and, in Pfaff’s telling, blocked by the same people who built today’s loophole-riddled election system on purpose.

Topics Covered

6,600 Admitted, 35,152 Confirmed: New Jersey’s Non-Citizen Registrations

Jennifer Horn opened with the admission itself: New Jersey’s governor acknowledged that 6,600 non-citizens were registered to vote — in a state running a motor voter program very similar to California’s. Pfaff’s response: they lied about that too. Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that investigators were able to deduce and confirm 35,152 illegals registered to vote in New Jersey. And the state still refuses to hand over its entire voter data list, which means, in Pfaff’s words, “there’s probably a whole bunch more than that.”

Pfaff was blunt about why Governor Mikey Sherrill said anything at all: she had to, because the numbers were going public anyway, and she wanted to put a public face on it first. He then did the math the “nothing to see here” crowd refuses to do: 400 voters can an election make, and in smaller geographic areas a few dozen votes make all the difference in the world. His conclusion: it’s not tiny, it is massive, and they know they’re doing it — and that’s the worst thing.

The admission also vindicates the people punished for asking questions. Pfaff told Horn that his statement on Dr. Sebastian Gorka’s radio show that “people question the 2020 election” became Gorka’s third strike on YouTube — costing him his channel and hundreds of thousands of followers for stating a fact. That’s why Pfaff says conservatives were right to question 2020 and right to keep the fire up for the last 6 years.

The show opened with RFK Jr. and Dr. Oz announcing they will withhold $1 billion from California and Minnesota over fraud — Medicaid and hospice fraud in California, schemes targeting poor and autistic children in Minnesota. Horn tied that to a second scandal: California will not turn over its voter rolls. Pfaff went a level deeper. In California, much of the fraud is no longer illegal — because Democrats changed the rules to legalize it. Los Angeles and other jurisdictions decided to allow illegals to vote in municipal elections, and nothing was put in place to keep those registrants out of federal elections. The state built a mishmash of laws that make it easier and easier for noncitizens to vote, and that, he said, is the core of the fraud. We covered this same pattern in our analysis of elections in a lawless state.

“when you legalize vote gathering, which also allows for electioneering right at the spot where someone’s making a vote, when you allow illegals to vote in some of your elections, you clearly have fraud taking place.”
— Jim Pfaff, President, The Conservative Caucus

That is the mechanism behind “plausible deniability.” Pfaff explained that unlimited vote gathering was intended to inject what he calls legal fraud into elections — and because Democrats succeeded in passing it, they get to claim there is no fraud because nothing illegal took place. His answer: no, you just made legal what had been illegal and rightly was illegal. Pfaff was careful about what he can and cannot prove — he told Horn he can’t account completely for what’s going on with Dominion voting machines around the country. He doesn’t need to. The legalized mechanisms alone are enough to corrupt the count.

230 Years of the Gold Standard — and Who Dismantled It

Pfaff grounded the whole discussion in history. For 230 years, America ran elections other nations envied.

“We had the gold standard in elections. That doesn’t mean perfect. It means gold standard.”
— Jim Pfaff, President, The Conservative Caucus

Then three massive things happened. First, the rise of the religious right in the 1990s powered the 1994 elections — the first time Republicans held full control of Congress in 40 years — and that momentum eventually elected George Bush. Second, the 2000 Bush election itself: Democrats were clearly committing voter fraud in Palm Beach County, Florida, trying to find votes and inject them into the recount until the Supreme Court shut it down. Third, and decisive: Democrats figured out at that point that they can’t win elections on their issues — issues Pfaff traces to the Democrat Socialists of America. So Marc Elias, Norm Eisen, and their cadre of lawyers spent the early 2000s forcing changes in election law, and Barack Obama, who said he was going to fundamentally transform America, added the heft of his political organization. Pfaff’s verdict: they really have, at least in terms of our elections. Because they can’t win on issues, they rewrote the rules of voting itself — and that rewrite has given them an electoral leg up ever since.

Voter ID Has 80% Support — So Why Are Republicans Dragging Their Feet?

When Horn cited polling that about 70% of Californians want the requirement, Pfaff corrected her upward: 70% of Democrats and 80% of Americans support it. This is not a contested reform — it has deep support across party lines. Pfaff credited Senator Mike Lee, a friend, for carrying the banner in Washington, the same fight we tracked in the SAVE Act showdown over voter ID.

His frustration is with Republicans who shrug. Pfaff called out his former boss, Congressman Thomas Massie, for asking what the big deal is since Republicans “won all three.” Pfaff’s answer came straight off a securities disclosure: past performance is not indicative of future results. His proposal follows the same logic — we need the same disclosure on our elections that we put on financial instruments, because that is seriously what we’re facing. If the law forces honesty about a mutual fund, it can force transparency about a voter roll. That’s why he says the time to act is now, while Republicans hold the majorities to do it.

Prop 39: Rob Bonta’s Ballot-Title Bait and Switch

The California front of that fight is Prop 39, on the ballot in November. The initiative’s original title was accurate: “Establishes Additional Voter Identification and Citizenship Verification Requirements.” California’s Secretary of State and Attorney General Rob Bonta rewrote it to read that the measure “prohibits citizens from voting” unless they present government-issued identification and “invalidates mail ballots” without the last 4 digits of an ID number. Gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton, whose audio the show played, called the rewrite laughably corrupt — like taking a driver-license requirement and retitling it “prohibits driving without a driver license.”

“They are so terrified of it that they have now changed the actual words that will appear on the ballot in order to try and put people off from voting for it.”
— Steve Hilton, Candidate for Governor of California

Assemblyman Carl DeMaio of Reform California, who leads the Prop 39 campaign, joined Horn in the next hour and named the perpetrators: Rob Bonta, Gavin Newsom, and California Democrats are trying to rig the election against the initiative. The bitter irony is that they are rigging it against their own voters.

“The polling shows even a majority of Democrat voters support voter ID.”
— Carl DeMaio, California Assemblyman, Reform California

DeMaio has seen this play before. In 2018, officials retitled the gas tax repeal as “cancel road repair” — his campaign started at 23% yes and climbed to the high 40s once neighbors told neighbors about the deception, but not high enough, and Californians are paying those taxes today. His coalition is weighing legal options, but he holds little hope for remedy from liberal judges. So the campaign goes to the ground: plain English voter guides, door hangers, lists of low-propensity Republican voters to visit, and “barbecue, beer, and ballot” events where voters turn in ballots in a secure box in a trusted environment. Sign-ups are at voteridinitiative.com, reformevents.org, and reformcalifornia.org.

“Rob Bonta is lying to voters, depriving us of a fair election. Enough is enough. We need to take back our government. We need to take back these elections with Prop 39.”
— Carl DeMaio, California Assemblyman, Reform California

DeMaio’s warning extends past state lines: if you think California is already lost, just wait until it is — because then that infection starts to spread across the rest of the country. This is the battle line for the soul of the country, and his ask is direct: fight, or book a U-Haul.

Key Takeaways

  1. New Jersey confessed – Governor Mikey Sherrill admitted 6,600 non-citizens were registered to vote; Trump posted a confirmed count of 35,152, and the state still withholds its full voter data list.
  2. Small numbers swing elections – 400 voters can an election make. In smaller races, a few dozen votes decide the outcome, so non-citizen registration is massive, not marginal.
  3. California legalized the fraud – Unlimited vote gathering and municipal voting for illegals injected what Pfaff calls legal fraud, giving Democrats plausible deniability because nothing “illegal” occurs.
  4. The gold standard was dismantled deliberately – After losing Palm Beach County in 2000, Democrats turned to Marc Elias, Norm Eisen, and Obama’s machine to rewrite election law, because they can’t win on their issues.
  5. Voter ID is a consensus reform – 70% of Democrats and 80% of Americans back it; Senator Mike Lee is carrying the fight, and Republicans have no excuse to stall.
  6. Prop 39 is under sabotage – Rob Bonta and the Secretary of State rewrote the initiative’s ballot title to scare voters; DeMaio’s ground game of voter guides and ballot events is the counterattack.
